Announcements

The deadline for the Class of 2015 students to submit nomination applications for the ACA Scholarship Program has been extended to Friday, September 19, 2014. Click here to go the our High School Scholarship Awards webpage for more details.

 

Celebrating 40 Years of ACA commemorative book available for pick up

This hardcover book commemorates 40 years of the Association of Chinese Americans' history and is filled with photos, anecdotes, and reflections from the founders, members and supporters of ACA over the years. Members can pick up one complimentary copy (one copy per household) from the Chinese Community Center (32585 Concord Drive, Madison Heights, MI 48071) during regular office hours. Members can donate $10 for the commemorative book or purchase additional copies at $12 per book. Starting March 2014 the Hot Lunch Program at the Chinese Community Center will be provided on only Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The main meal will be Chinese food with milk, beverages, fruit and bread. Go to the calendar to see this month's menu as it becomes available.

 

Upcoming Events/Activities

ACA Summer Camp in Canton Monday - Friday July 14 - August 1

For the 15th year, ACA is offering campers the opportunity to learn and experience Chinese culture through a variety of activities at this wonderful 3-week camp. Click here for additional information.

Health Screenings at Detroit Service Center Tuesdays from August 12-December 9 at 12PM

Blood pressure screenings will be offered for free with physician counseling provided by doctors from WSU chapter of APAMSA.

A more comprehensive health screening with blood glucose and cholesterol testing will be offered on Sept. 2, Oct. 12, Nov. 4, and Dec. 2

ACA Youth Culture Summer Camp Mon., August 4 - Fri., August 8 10am-4:30pm

This one-week camp at the Chinese Community Center in Madison Heights is designed for middle school and high school students interested in learning more about Chinese culture. Click here for more details. For information on all our summer camp programs, click here.

Northern Indiana Outing Wed-Thurs September 10-11

Several northern Indiana sites will be visited in Ekhart County and neighboring cities including Heritage Trail & Quilt Gardens, Ruthmere Museum, Wellfield Botanic Gardens, Amish Acres, and the Midwest's largest flea market/auction in Shipshewana, IN. Space is limited. Click here for information.

Orientation for Comcast Digital Connectors Program Sunday, Sept. 21 at 2pm

This orientation is for 2014-2015 session which will be offering two classes starting Sat., Sept. 27th and Sunday, Sept. 28th.

Digital Connectors Program (Class I) Saturdays 1pm-5pm and Thursdays 6pm-8pm starting Sat., Sept. 27

This class meets twice  per week and educates students in digital, media, and financial literacy as well as improves their leadership, community outreach, and publi-speaking skills. 

Digital Connectors Program (Class II) Sundays 2pm-6pm and Fridays 6pm-8pm starting Sun., Sept. 28

Current Class Schedule

2014 Summer ESL Class Mondays June 16 - August 18 at 1pm (Review session Thursdays June 19 - August 21 at 1pm)

Students will practice listening and speaking vacation related dialogue. The Monday class lesson will be reviewed on the following Thursday. Click here for more details.

 

Other Classes

Thursday Night Ballroom Dance Class  On the first and third Thursday of each month at 7pm

The annual fee for this class is $30.  Click here for more information.

Thursday Night Line Dance Class On the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7pm.

The annual fee for this class is $30. Click here for additional information.

If you register for both the Ballroom and Line Dance classes, the total annual fee is $50 (save $10).

ACA Taiji Exercise Program Saturdays in 2014 at 8:30am

This class is taught in English and Chinese. Additional courses taught by Master Gu are avaliable. Click here for more details.

ACA Senior Club Dance Class Fridays in 2014 at 10:30am
