Celebrating 40 Years of ACA commemorative book available for pick up
This hardcover book commemorates 40 years of the Association of Chinese Americans' history and is filled with photos, anecdotes, and reflections from the founders, members and supporters of ACA over the years. Members can pick up one complimentary copy (one copy per household) from the Chinese Community Center (32585 Concord Drive, Madison Heights, MI 48071) during regular office hours. Members can donate $10 for the commemorative book or purchase additional copies at $12 per book. ACA Members out-of-state can call us at 248-585-9343 or email Shirley Yee at

Starting March 2014 the Hot Lunch Program at the Chinese Community Center will be provided on only Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The main meal will be Chinese food with milk, beverages, fruit and bread. Go to the calendar to see this month's menu as it becomes available.

2013-2014 ACA ESL and Citizenship Classes Click here to see the class announcement. Click here to see the registration form with fees. The 1,000 Sentences class is taught on Thursdays from now until the class ends in June 2014.
Daily Conversation Mondays 1:30pm-3:30pm (Sept. 30, 2013 - June 2014)
Students will learn practical spoken English for everyday situations. Class will be taught in English with Manadarin translation as needed.
Advance Speaking, Reading & Comprehension Tuesdays 10am-12pm (Oct. 2013 - June 2014)
Emphasis will be on listening and reading skills, with reading of articles and group discussions. This class will be taught in English only.
Basic Pronunciation for Beginners Tuesdays 1:30-3pm (Oct. 2013 - June 2014)
This course is for beginners who need to learn pronunciation. Class will be taught with Mandarin translation.
Citizenship N400 and 100 Questions Tuesdays 1:30pm-3pm (Oct. 2013 - June 2014)
This class will help students prepare to take the U.S. Citizenship Exam with emphasis on the Form N400 interview questions and the 100 Questions related to American government, the Constitution, history, geography and civics. Class will be taught with limited Mandarin translation.
1,000 Questions changed to Thursdays 1pm-3pm (Oct. 2013 - June 2014)
Students will learn basic sentence patterns while practicing 1,000 common English sentences. Class will be taught with Mandarin translation.
Spring Computer Class Thursdays April 17 - June 19 at 10am
Computer basics will be taught in this class. Click here for more information.
Summer ESL Class Mondays June 16 - August 18 at 1pm (Review session Thursdays June 19 - August 21 at 1pm)
Students will practice listening and speaking vacation related dialogue. The Monday class lesson will be reviewed on the following Thursday. Click here for more details.
Thursday Night Ballroom Dance Class On the first and third Thursday of each month at 7pm
The annual fee for this class is $30. Click here for more information.
Thursday Night Line Dance Class On the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7pm.
The annual fee for this class is $30. Click here for additional information.
If you register for both the Ballroom and Line Dance classes, the total annual fee is $50 (save $10).
ACA Taiji Exercise Program Saturdays in 2013 at 8:30am
This class is taught in English and Chinese. Additional courses taught by Master Gu are avaliable. Click here for more details.

Health Screenings at ACA's Detroit Service Center
Blood pressure screenings will be provided for free by doctors from the Wayne State chapter of Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) from 12pm-1pm on Tuesdays now until April 22, 2014. Blood glucose and cholesterol tests will be available on Jan. 28, March 4, and April 1.
Improving the Immune System Through Healthy Diet Workshop Thursday, April 17 at 10:30am
This free workshop will be held at the Detroit Service Center and will highlight how eating the right foods will help maintain and possibly boost your immune system. Click here for details.

Mammoth Cave National Park Outing Sunday, April 27 - Wednesday April 30
This 4-day, 3-night trip will explore several midwestern attractions including Mammoth Cave National Park and the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (Gateway Arch). Click here for further information.
