DESCRIPTION:The Healthy Gardening Fair is coming soon! The Healthy Gardening Fair is a free community event presented by the Association of Chinese Americans. It is a “Homegrown\, Homemade” themed event with a special focus on Healthy Living! It will be held on Saturday\, August 24th from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Chinese Community Center located at 32585 Concord Dr.\, Madison Heights\, MI 48071. \nHealth\, of course\, is the protagonist of The Healthy Gardening Fair. Association of Chinese Americans invites professional doctors from all fields and the Department of Nutrition at Eastern Michigan University. Henry Ford Hospital brings professional health and nutrition lectures to provide you with comprehensive life knowledge. Let us work together to make a healthy life! \nIn addition\, there are various types of health and nutrition information consultation\, including fitness\, mental health promotion (Dr. Meiqi Song\, Ph.D. LPC Licensed Professional Counselor )\, and ophthalmology health. Free health check\, Chinese massage\, acupuncture\, public health policy\, low-income medical information consultation\, disease nutrition\, and citizenship knowledge\, Census/ AT&T communication information\, handicraft display. ACA health and fitness courses (Tai Chi\, dance\, martial arts\, fitness) consultation and other booths will be waiting for everyone on the scene. SUMMARY:ACA 2019 Youth Cultural Summer Camp (07/15 - 08/02)
DESCRIPTION:The Association of Chinese Americans\, Inc. (ACA) is continuing its long tradition of offering a Youth Cultural Summer Camp in Canton/Plymouth. This year’s camp will run from July 15 to August 2\, Monday to Friday from 9AM to 3:30PM with extended care available in the morning and afternoon (for a fee). Students ages 5-14 are welcome to participate. No Chinese language skill is required. \nThe registration process is now open. Parents can register campers online here: ACA Summer Camp Registration. ACA is also now accepting applications for teenage camp counselors—paid counselors must be 17 years old\, while volunteers must be 15 years old. Interested students can apply here: 2019 ACA Summer Camp Counselor and Volunteer Application (The counselors quota is full). \nACA’s summer camp has a 20-year history\, popular among both Chinese and non-Chinese families. As part of its mission of cultural sharing\, the camp has allowed countless students to explore and experience Chinese culture\, as well as to develop a passion for their roots. This year’s program will continue to focus on culture and language learning\, with special cultural activities such as traditional crafts\, calligraphy\, Chinese yoyo\, opera\, songs\, dance\, cooking\, and more. The camp also emphasizes developing leadership skills\, learning teamwork\, appreciating and understanding ethnic diversity.  Campers are divided into groups based on age. \nFee Information: \n\nRegistrations received by or on Fri.\, 6/21/2019: $165 ($160 for 2nd child) per week\, or $45 ($42 for 2nd child) per day. Discount for all 3 weeks attendance: $480 ($465 for 2nd child). DESCRIPTION:ACA will be having a class of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Massage starting from Monday\, June 3 to Fri.\, June 28 at the Chinese Community Center(CCC) taught by Yi Zhang. Yi Zhang is an MI State licensed and insured massage therapist. She started as a medical therapist in China and has been certified since1996. After moving to the US\, she studied at the massage school of Health Enrichment Center in Lapeer MI and graduated in 2000 becoming an instructor of Chinese massage and foot reflexology. She also got acupuncture diploma from Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2010. She has experience working at Troy Lifetime Fitness and at Detroit Lions doing therapeutic massage. \nThe class will have a total of 8 sessions\, 2 lessons per week\, Monday and Friday 1:00pm – 3:00pm and the class fee is $160.
