DESCRIPTION:Design the Future: 2026 OCA National Convention T-Shirt Design Contest Now Open\nThis summer\, a defining moment for the Asian American\, Native Hawaiian\, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community will take place in Detroit. \nAs anticipation builds for the 2026 OCA National Convention\, we are pleased to announce the launch of one of the convention’s most creative and visible traditions: \nThe 2026 OCA National Convention T-Shirt Design Contest is now open. \nThis is an opportunity to share your perspective\, showcase your creativity\, and contribute to a design that will be worn by attendees from across the country. \n \nApplication Form Here\n  \nAbout \nOCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates\nFounded in 1973\, OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates is a leading national organization dedicated to advancing the social\, political\, and economic well-being of Asian American\, Native Hawaiian\, and Pacific Islander communities. \nWith more than 50 chapters and affiliates across the United States\, OCA works to promote civic engagement\, support youth leadership\, expand educational opportunities\, and strengthen community connections nationwide. \n\n  \nA Homecoming in Detroit\nThe 2026 convention carries particular significance as it returns to Detroit. \nAssociation of Chinese Americans (ACA)\, one of OCA’s founding organizations established in 1972\, has long served the Detroit community through cultural programming\, social services\, and advocacy. \nHosting the national convention in Detroit represents not only a major gathering\, but also a meaningful homecoming. \n\n  \nConvention Details\n2026 OCA National Convention \nJuly 23–26\, 2026\nDetroit\, Michigan \nLeaders\, advocates\, students\, and community members from across the country will come together to exchange ideas\, build partnerships\, and shape the future of the AANHPI community. \n\n  \n2026 Theme: Motown Momentum\nMOTOWN MOMENTUM: IGNITING NEW ENERGY\, INSPIRING ALL GENERATIONS \nThe 2026 theme draws inspiration from Detroit’s defining identity. \n“Motown” originates from “Motor Town\,” reflecting Detroit’s historic role as the center of the American automobile industry\, home to companies such as Ford Motor Company\, General Motors\, and Chrysler. \nThe term gained global recognition through the founding of Motown Records in 1960 by Berry Gordy. The label helped shape modern popular music through artists such as Stevie Wonder\, Diana Ross\, Marvin Gaye\, The Temptations\, and Jackson 5. \nToday\, Motown represents more than a musical genre. It reflects a spirit of innovation\, resilience\, creativity\, and cross-generational cultural influence. \nThe theme “Motown Momentum” calls on us to build on that legacy by bringing together different generations\, igniting new energy\, and advancing the future of AANHPI communities. \n\n  \nThe T-Shirt Design Contest\nThe official convention T-shirt is more than a commemorative item. It serves as a shared symbol of identity\, unity\, and purpose. \nParticipants are invited to interpret this year’s theme and translate it into a compelling visual design.
