SUMMARY:Comcast Digital Inclusion Program Graduation
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, June 10\, 2018\, 14 middle & high school students graduated from the Comcast Digital Inclusion Program\, held at the Chinese Community Center. Run by the Association of Chinese Americans (ACA)\, the organization was pleased to have ACA President Roland Hwang\, board members Charles Liu and Tess Tchou\, and Executive Director Joyce Li in attendance. \n\nThe program runs throughout the school year and it is our 6th year and 8th graduating class. This year’s curriculum changed with the removal of  literacy and responsibility\, entrepreneurship\, and financial literacy with the use of EverFi’s online curriculum. \nDuring the graduation ceremony\, the growth of the students wasCisco but added two additional curriculums from EverFi: Ignition and Venture. Throughout the program\, the students were educated in digital on display as\, split into five groups\, they gave captivating presentations demonstrating what they had learned and their improved public speaking skills. They also officially received the Comcast program certificate\, along with certificates in EverFi: Financial Literacy\, Ignition: Digital Literacy & Responsibility\, and Venture: Entrepreneurial Expedition. \nThe program also helps improve the students’ leadership\, community outreach\, and public-speaking skills. As an additional incentive\, our students this year were able to receive a new Lenovo laptop after completing all the requirements\, which included a minimum of 50 community service hours. The program encourages students to utilize what they have learned to have a positive impact on those around them\, to become leaders\, and to give back to the community. \nSpecial thanks to Comcast for supporting the program\, to David Liou for teaching the course\, and for all the support received from parents. Next year\, ACA will continue its cooperation with Comcast to offer the program again to give Asian American students opportunities and a platform for development. Specific information on next year’s curriculum will be released in August. Anyone interested in the program or with questions can contact ACA at 248-585-9343 or visit www.acadetroit.org. \n \n(include recognition of Charles Liou for photos in news article) \n【所有接受笔记本电脑的学员与美华协会理事合影。
