SUMMARY:Comcast Digital Inclusion Program Graduation
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, June 10\, 2018\, 14 middle & high school students graduated from the Comcast Digital Inclusion Program\, held at the Chinese Community Center. Run by the Association of Chinese Americans (ACA)\, the organization was pleased to have ACA President Roland Hwang\, board members Charles Liu and Tess Tchou\, and Executive Director Joyce Li in attendance. \n\nThe program runs throughout the school year and it is our 6th year and 8th graduating class. This year’s curriculum changed with the removal of  literacy and responsibility\, entrepreneurship\, and financial literacy with the use of EverFi’s online curriculum. \nDuring the graduation ceremony\, the growth of the students wasCisco but added two additional curriculums from EverFi: Ignition and Venture. Throughout the program\, the students were educated in digital on display as\, split into five groups\, they gave captivating presentations demonstrating what they had learned and their improved public speaking skills. They also officially received the Comcast program certificate\, along with certificates in EverFi: Financial Literacy\, Ignition: Digital Literacy & Responsibility\, and Venture: Entrepreneurial Expedition. \nThe program also helps improve the students’ leadership\, community outreach\, and public-speaking skills. As an additional incentive\, our students this year were able to receive a new Lenovo laptop after completing all the requirements\, which included a minimum of 50 community service hours. The program encourages students to utilize what they have learned to have a positive impact on those around them\, to become leaders\, and to give back to the community. \nSpecial thanks to Comcast for supporting the program\, to David Liou for teaching the course\, and for all the support received from parents. Next year\, ACA will continue its cooperation with Comcast to offer the program again to give Asian American students opportunities and a platform for development. Specific information on next year’s curriculum will be released in August. Anyone interested in the program or with questions can contact ACA at 248-585-9343 or visit www.acadetroit.org. \n \n(include recognition of Charles Liou for photos in news article) \n【所有接受笔记本电脑的学员与美华协会理事合影。

SUMMARY:Capital Campaign Fundraise
DESCRIPTION:Join 168 Group and Association of Chinese Americans (ACA)  to Support  the Chinese Community Center(CCC) Capital Campaign\n168 Group will hold consumer fundraising activities at 168 Asian Mart\, Fuji Buffet\, and 168 KTV Bistro from June 1 to June 8. All raised money and donations will be donated to CCC Capital Campaign Fund. \nThe CCC building was purchased 15 years ago through the generous gifts of donors. It has been undergoing renovations since then and has served the community for more than 10 years. With 15 years utilization\, the building itself\, which serves numerous families\, held countless festival celebrations\, and opened numerous cultural and educational courses such as English and cultural classes\, has begun to be old and needs major renovations. Therefore\, ACA launched a Capital Campaign in May this year to raise fund for its major renovation\, equipment upgrades\, and general maintenance repairs. \n168 Group responded to the call and actively cooperated with fundraising. For many years\, 168 Group has also been deeply immersed in the Asian community and has provided a great deal of convenience\, shopping\, and entertainment for the daily life of Chinese and Asians. 168 Group decided that from June 1 to June 8\, all purchase with ACA coupon (either paper copy or electronic one)  at 168 KTV Bistro and Fuji Buffet will receive a 5% discount while 168 Group will donate another 10% to CCC Capital Campaign Fund. \nIn addition\, 168 Asian Mart will set up a donation box and system donation on-site. Consumers can drop money into the on-site donation box or make your donation when you check-out. Both 168 Group and ACA hope that you can join us to contribute your effort to build a better community while you are enjoying shopping and entertainment. Every little makes a mickle. Every contribution leads to a better community. \nThe coupon is as follow:(When you use it\, please show it to the staff)

SUMMARY:China Abstract Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition will showcase the flourishing abstract art movement in China and is intended to promote Chinese-American art and culture exchange. It is a unique opportunity to engage with works of Chinese abstract art spanning the last one-hundred years\, featuring artists born between 1920 and 1998. \nEven though abstract art was originally developed in artistic circles of Western society\, the roots of abstract art are intrinsic to all population groups. Drawing from the rise of abstract art in the West\, an abstract art movement has taken off at an astonishing rate in the last 20 years in China. It has been aided by the coinciding of traditional Chinese culture with abstract art concepts\, which have been found to be a natural blend. With this vigorous energy coming from China\, the Chinese movement is now a driving force behind the development of new international trends in abstract art. \nThe renowned Chinese abstract artist Yiying Ma\, chief curator of the exhibit\, has gathered together art pieces for the exhibit from many internationally acclaimed artists\, including: \nTeh-Chun Chu\, Wou-Ki Zao\, Youhan Yu\, Lu Ma\, Ping Tan\, Luding Meng\, Liming Gu\, Ye Xiao\, Qingshi Liu\, Zhigang Zhu\, Yunrui Gu\, Hailong Yuan\, Shijun Weng\, Yingqing Liu\, Bo Liu\, Yanlin Guo\, Xingui Xu\, Jinhuan Zhou\, Qi Chen\, Wenxi Luo\, Jufang Zhang\, and Yukine Yanagi. \nLocated at the historic Alger Estate on the shores of Lake St. Claire\, viewers will have the opportunity to engage with this art at the picturesque setting of the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. \nEvent Timeline: \n12:30-1:30 PM: VIP Reception \n1:30-6:00 PM: Open for General Admission (Opening Ceremony at 1:30 PM\, Artist Talk at 3:00 PM) \nTickets: \nGeneral: $10  |  VIP: $30 \nREGISTRATION LINK: https://acadetroit-2018-abstract.eventbrite.com \nThe event is co-hosted by the Association of Chinese Americans\, the Jinan Yonquan Academy\, and the China Abstract Art Promotion Salon. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards ACA’s social service work in the Asian-American community in Metro Detroit. Much appreciation to the Liu Xinyuan Foundation of Asian Art for sponsor the event.
