(ACA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that strives to empower the community livelihood of the Chinese American and the Asian Pacific American (APA) community by promoting community health, enhancing access to basic health care, enhancing community security and wellbeing, and enhancing cultural awareness, is seeking full-time employees, and Interns.

Job Title: Program Coordinator in Community Health

Location: Detroit and Madison Heights, MI

Summary

Program Coordinator in Community Health reports to the Executive Director and provides management on the implementation, design, education, and training of all sponsored programs within center operations by complying with health regulations, community partners and government granting agencies in assigned areas based on members’ needs. This position supports other paralleled health programs operated in the Service Centers and grants writing. This position also promotes relationships with community partners, granting agencies and organizations, and contributes to the design of community health outreach programs.

  • Sponsored programs in Community Health
  • Outreaching Health Programs
  • Senior Care Services
  • Grant Application Support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in health-related fields: Public Health, Health Administration, Phycology, Nutrition, etc.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and working experience in public/community health preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English, written and oral. Bilingual (Mandarin or Cantonese) speakers are preferred. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Fast learner, multitasker, team player and self-starter 
  • Deep understanding and passion for Asian American and Pacific Islander issues 

Job Title: Administrative Coordinator

Location: Detroit, MI

Summary

Administrative Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and has the responsibility to coordinate and implement the goals and objectives related to the mission of the Center in Detroit. He/She shall carry out client services, daily onsite, or weekly activities held at the center and other administrative duties to ensure a smooth-running center at the Detroit location. This position supports other paralleled cultural programs operated in the Service Centers and promotes relationships with community partners, granting agencies and organizations, and contributes to the design of community outreach programs. This position also conducts daily bookkeeping and is responsible for cash receipts and deposits for the Detroit Center.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, marketing, business or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal skills,  Team player and self-starter attitude 
  • Fast learner and multi-tasker to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong knowledge and empathetic understanding of the Chinese American culture, language, community structure, and needs of the clientele
  • Ability to write and speak English and Chinese
  • General knowledge of administrative procedure (i.e., maintenance/filing of data and records, prepare and present reports) and computer skills
  • Willingness to service people with cultural barriers
  • Ability to communicate and relate to people
  • Skills to operate general office equipment

Job Title: Administrative Intern

Location: Detroit and Madison Heights, MI

Summary

The Administrative Intern assists with general office, HR, IT, Accounting, and Program activities as determined and directed by the Office Supervisor on efforts required to support the organization’s Center services, programs, and activities.

  • Program assistance and development

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong people skills and a great initiator
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Currently enrolled college student in Junior or Senior Standing
  • U.S. Student Visa or working permit required
