The Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) proudly announces the 2024 Community and Empowerment Photo Contest, a part of the Corky Lee photo exhibit serial event. This contest celebrates the vibrant spirit and resilience of Asian Pacific American communities through the lens of photography.
Theme: Unity, Community and Empowerment
Submission Deadline: July 31, 2024
Awards:
- Gold Award: 1 winner, $500, and a certificate
- Silver Awards: 2 winners, $200 each, and certificates
- Bronze Awards: 3 winners, $100 each, and certificates
- Honorable Mentions: 5 photographs, awarded certificates
- Voter’s Favorite Awards: 5 winners based on online voting
Contest Details:
- Eligibility: Open to all photography enthusiasts.
- Theme: Photos should capture moments that reflect the theme of unity, community, and/or empowerment within the Asian American community.
- Submission Limit: Each participant may submit up to 3 single-frame photographs.
- Photo Requirements:
- Photos must be taken in the United States.
- Photos must be original works taken within the last year.
- Submissions should be in high-resolution JPEG format, with high-quality compression, within 10MB, and a minimum of 4000 pixels on the longest side.
- Alterations such as stitching, special effects, multiple exposures, distortion correction, and AI-generated images are prohibited. Only cropping is allowed.
- Excessive adjustments to brightness, contrast, color saturation, or color temperature that alter the image content are not allowed.
- Photos must be taken with a camera.
- Captions:
- Each photo must be accompanied by a title and a comprehensive caption including the date, location (city, region, state), identities of individuals, events depicted, and any necessary background information.
- For email submissions, attach a separate text file with the same filename as the photograph for the caption.
Terms and Conditions:
- Participants must be the sole authors of the submitted works and hold independent, complete, clear, and undisputed copyright to the works.
- Participants must ensure that the submitted works do not infringe upon the legal rights of third parties, including but not limited to copyright, portrait rights, reputation rights, and privacy rights. Participants are solely responsible for any legal issues arising from disputes over these rights.
- Participants retain the copyright to their works. The organizers have the right to use the submitted works for promotion, exhibition, and non-commercial publication while respecting the participants’ right to attribution.
- Entries that do not comply with the contest rules may be disqualified by the organizer.
Exhibition and Recognition:
- Winning photos will be showcased in a special exhibition as part of the Corky Lee photo exhibit series and featured on ACA’s social media platforms and in promotional materials.
- All awarded photos and Honorable Mentions will be featured on ACA’s social media platforms.

- Final Awards Announcement: September 15, 2024
