41st ACA High School/College Scholarships 美华协会第41届高中生/大学生奖学金

The Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) is now accepting applications for this year’s scholarship program! This program aims to honor and support outstanding local youth. This year, we will award 16 scholarships to high school students and 6 scholarships to college students.

 

本年度密西根美华协会奖学金现已开始接受申请!本奖学金项目旨在为本地优秀青年提供荣誉表彰和经济支持。今年将颁发16个高中生奖项和6个大学生奖项。

 

Eligibility Criteria 申请资格 :

– High School Scholarships: Applicants must be 2025 graduating high school seniors of Asian Pacific Islander descent or any ethnicity actively involved in the Asian Pacific Islander community.

– College Scholarships: Applicants must be sophomore, junior, or senior college students of Asian Pacific Islander descent or any ethnicity actively involved in the Asian Pacific Islander community.

– 高中生奖学金:申请人必须是2025届高中毕业生,需为亚太裔或积极参与亚太裔社区服务的任何族裔。

– 大学生奖学金:申请人必须是在校的二年级、三年级或四年级学生,需为亚太裔或积极参与亚太裔社区服务的任何族裔。

Class of 2025 High School Scholarship List

– One-time Scholarship

 

Association of Chinese Americans Scholarships

Number of Scholarship: 2

Amount: $1,000 each

Criteria: Best all-around, leadership and community service

Gracia Lee Memorial Scholarship for Entrepreneurship

Number of Scholarship: 1

Amount: $3,000

Criteria: Strong academics with demonstrated exceptional entrepreneurship

 

Tom Hing and Kuen Kuen Yee Memorial Scholarships

Number of Scholarship: 1

Amount: $3,000

Criteria: GPA 3.5, financial need, community service, extracurricular activities.

Mr. and Mrs. P.L. Siak Memorial Scholarship

Number of scholarships: 1

Amount: $1,500

Criteria: Physical disability and/or overcome hardship

Eligibilities: Achieved excellent academic result with preferably a 3.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0 or equivalent (exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis) while overcoming major difficulties in life, such as a physical disability, or constraints, or major illness for an extended period of time.

Mabel Peng Memorial Scholarship

Number of Scholarship: 1

Amount: $1,000

Criteria: Best academic record and test scores and demonstrated leadership in extracurricular and/or community activities

O.S. Chan Scholarship

Number of Scholarship: 1

Amount: $1,500

Criteria: General scholarship with a focus on athletic achievement

O.S. Chan Scholarship

Number of Scholarship: 1

Amount: $1,500

Criteria: General scholarship with a focus on mathematics and physical sciences

O.S. Chan and ACA Scholarship

Amount: $1,500 each

Criteria: General scholarship with a focus on achievement in Fine Arts

The Zheng Family Scholarship

Number of Scholarship: 2

Amount: $1,000 each

Criteria: Financial Challenges

Eligibilities: Excellent academic result with preferably a 3.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0

The Sung and Nefske Scholarship

Number of Scholarships: 1

Amount: $1,000

Criteria: General scholarship for Asian or trans-Pacific adoptees who have overcome cultural, social or familial barriers, and have found success in extracurriculars and academics, and maintained links to their Asian heritage.

 

Lilian Siak Memorial Scholarship

Number of Scholarships: 1

Amount: $1,500 ($500 matched by Dr. Tai Chan)

Criteria: Achieved excellent academic result (Need not to be a straight A student) while overcoming major difficulties in life, such as a physical disability, or constraints, or major illness for an extended period of time. Demonstrating passion in community services and pursue studies in Liberal Arts majors.

Page Toyota and Page Honda Bloomfield

Number of Scholarship: 2

Amount: $1,000 each

Criteria: Scholarship #1: Community Service Scholarship

Eligibilities: Achieved excellent academic result with preferably a 3.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0 or equivalent (exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis) while demonstrating passion and a good amount of community service.

Criteria: Scholarship #2: Physical disability and/or overcome hardship

Achieved excellent academic result with preferably a 3.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0 or equivalent (exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis) while overcoming major difficulties in life, such as a physical disability, or constraints, or major illness for an extended period of time

Continuation of these scholarships, for up to a maximum of four years, will be contingent upon maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and in the intended field of study.


 

– Multi-Year Scholarship

Continuation of this scholarship, for up to a maximum of four years, will be contingent upon maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and in the intended field of study.

Tom Hing and Kuen Kuen Yee Memorial Scholarship

Number of Scholarship: 1

Amount: $3,000 annual scholarship for a maximum of 4 years

Criteria: Financial need, pursuit of teaching/education studies, community service, extra curriculum., GPA >3.5 (on 4 scale).


 

2024 College Scholarship List

– One-time Scholarship

Criteria: Applicant must attend an accredited Michigan non-profit institution of higher education (including community college) or maintain Michigan residency if they go out of the state to attend any accredited, non-profit institution of higher education.

Eligibility: Must be a sophomore, junior or senior enrolled (full-time or part-time, at least one-half, required) and in good academic standing at the time of receipt of the scholarship.

Application and Supporting Documents:

1. Online application form which includes basic information, a personal statement, work experience and community involvement.

2. Two (2) letters of recommendation provided by faculty members or supervisors

3. Official transcripts

4. Documented history of receiving need-based financial aid

5. A 15-minute interview (Virtual via Zoom in early-October)

6. Proof of Michigan residency for applicants attending non-Michigan schools

7. All supporting materials should be submitted electronically.

Association of Chinese American College Scholarship

Number of Scholarships: 2

Amount: $1,000 each

Criteria: Pursue studies in the humanities and/or social sciences (i.e., history, English, art, music, religion, ethnic studies, sociology, anthropology, archaeology, political science)

Tom Hing and Kuen Kuen Yee Memorial Scholarship

Number of Scholarship: 1

Amount $3,000

Criteria: Pursue studies in any field, with GPA 3.5, financial need, community service, and extracurricular activities.

Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Chen Memorial Scholarships

Number of Scholarship: 1

Amount $1,000

Criteria: Pursue studies in any fields, with a clear demonstration of female leadership potential, including but not limited to involvement in leadership roles, community engagement, activism, or other forms of impactful contributions that promote gender equality and empower women.

Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Chen Memorial Scholarships

Number of Scholarship: 1

Amount $1,000

Criteria: Pursue studies in any fields, with a clear demonstration of male leadership potential, including but not limited to involvement in leadership roles, community engagement, activism, or other forms of impactful contributions.

Tom Hing and Kuen Kuen Yee Memorial Scholarship

Number of Scholarship:1

Amount: $1,000 each

Criteria: Attending a Michigan Vocational/trade programs at specialty schools or community colleges in the studies of auto mechanic, carpenter, electrician, plumber, construction, roofing, HVAC, and sheet metal.

GPA 3.0, financial need, and community service.

Eligibility: Full-time or part-time, at least one-half, required and in good academic standing at the time of receipt of the scholarship.



– Multi-Year Scholarship

Continuation of this scholarship, for up to a maximum of four years, will be contingent upon maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and in the intended field of study.

Tom Hing and Kuen Kuen Yee (3rd Year) Memorial Scholarship

Number of Scholarship: NA

Amount: $3,000 annual scholarship for a maximum of 4 years

Criteria: Financial need, Pursuit of STEM studies, GPA >3.5 (on 4 scale), community service, extra curriculum.
