March 16, ACA Teen Volunteer Council Vice President, Alex Ye traveled to Washington D.C. representing Association of Chinese American – OCA Detroit Chapter to attend a joint leadership summit in conjunction with Japanese American Citizens League (JACL). At the summit, he listened to many distinguished speaker panels, ranging from civil rights advocates to Capitol Hill staffers. He received advocacy, leadership, and media training to prepare for his visit to the Hill on the last day. During his visit to Capitol Hill, he and a small team of participants met with two House Representatives and lobbied for their co-sponsorship on two bills, the Reuniting Families Act and the All Students Count Act.
