2026 Theme: Motown Momentum
MOTOWN MOMENTUM: IGNITING NEW ENERGY, INSPIRING ALL GENERATIONS
The 2026 theme draws inspiration from Detroit’s defining identity.
“Motown” originates from “Motor Town,” reflecting Detroit’s historic role as the center of the American automobile industry, home to companies such as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Chrysler.
The term gained global recognition through the founding of Motown Records in 1960 by Berry Gordy. The label helped shape modern popular music through artists such as Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, and Jackson 5.
Today, Motown represents more than a musical genre. It reflects a spirit of innovation, resilience, creativity, and cross-generational cultural influence.
The theme “Motown Momentum” calls on us to build on that legacy by bringing together different generations, igniting new energy, and advancing the future of AANHPI communities.
The T-Shirt Design Contest
The official convention T-shirt is more than a commemorative item. It serves as a shared symbol of identity, unity, and purpose.
Participants are invited to interpret this year’s theme and translate it into a compelling visual design. Whether drawing inspiration from Detroit’s industrial heritage, its musical legacy, or the diversity of the AANHPI community, submissions should reflect the spirit of the convention.
