About the Organization

The Association of Chinese Americans, Inc. (ACA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the founding chapter of OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates. ACA has served the Metro Detroit community for over 50 years through cultural, educational, health, and social service programs.


Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial operations of our organization on a part-time basis. This position is ideal for someone looking for flexibility while contributing to a meaningful mission-driven organization. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager to maintain accurate financial records and assist with financial reporting, grant compliance, and donor acknowledgments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Record daily financial transactions and manage accounts payable/receivable
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records in QuickBooks
  • Assist in preparing internal financial reports and grant-related documentation
  • Process donation receipts and generate acknowledgment letters
  • Support preparation for annual audits
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 1–2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting is a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin or Cantonese is strongly preferred
