About the Organization

The Association of Chinese Americans, Inc. (ACA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the founding chapter of OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates. ACA has proudly served the Asian American community in Metro Detroit for over 50 years through cultural, educational, health, and senior programs.


Position Summary

ACA is seeking a bilingual Community Engagement Coordinator to oversee and deliver a range of educational and cultural programs based at the Chinese Community Center (CCC) in Madison Heights. This role focuses on three key areas:

  • Cultural school field trips – hands-on cultural enrichment programs for local K–12 students
  • Senior outings – two special recreational outings annually for older adult participants

This role also includes responding to inquiries on WeChat and supporting outreach through digital communications.

The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Mandarin or Cantonese, detail-oriented, and passionate about education and community service.


Key Responsibilities

Cultural School Field Trips

  • Coordinate with local schools and teachers to schedule visits
  • Develop engaging and age-appropriate activities and presentations
  • Host and guide student groups during visits
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operations

Senior Outings (Twice a Year)

  • Plan and coordinate two major senior outings annually
  • Manage logistics, transportation, registrations, and communication
  • Ensure participant safety and enjoyment

WeChat Customer Service

  • Respond to participant inquiries via ACA’s official WeChat account
  • Provide program information, troubleshoot issues, and route questions as needed
  • Assist in promoting educational activities on WeChat (in collaboration with communications staff)

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain program records and contribute to grant reporting
  • Represent ACA at community outreach events
  • Assist with ACA’s major cultural events such as Lunar New Year event
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum 1–2 years of program coordination, community education, or event planning experience
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin or Cantonese (required)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Comfortable working with older adults, children, and multicultural communities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic digital tools
  • Familiarity with WeChat communication and group management
