Week 1
ACA’s annual Youth Cultural Summer Camp kicked off with a multitude of activities for the campers.
The Youth group had a lot of fun at camp this week! They participated in various activities such as learning Chinese, cooking and crafts. A fan favorite amongst our group is Chinese yo-yo and craft making. We look forward to continuing our favorite activities as well as exploring new parts of the Chinese culture we haven’t learned about yet!
The Junior 1 group explored the different Michigan ecosystems through some reptilian visitors, painted scenic landscapes, and acquired the foundations of Chinese calligraphy. From the slithering corn snake to the two bald eagles spotted aboard Kensington Metropark’s boat ride, the campers greatly appreciated nature and connection. The campers have been eagerly learning how to sing “Love” by The Little Tigers day by day, line by line. The group decorated paper chains, ultimately forming a paper dragon– one that decoratively spans the length of the classroom, and celebrated not one but two birthdays!
The Junior 2 and Senior group immediately assimilated into camp, quickly making long-lasting friendships. The campers all introduced themselves and got to know each other very well. They had their first painting as well as their first Chinese lesson which the campers said reminded them of Chinese school. The campers also enjoyed the different kinds of cookies that they made, which included chocolate chip, bird’s nest, as well as mochi. During the field trip on Wednesday, the Senior group mostly stayed in the nature center and focused on the taxidermy animals. Everyone is eagerly looking forward to the next few weeks of camp activities!

2025年美华青少年夏令营的第一周非常有趣和充实！少年组中最受欢迎的是悠悠球和工艺品制作。他们非常期待继续他们最喜欢的活动，并探索尚未了解的中国文化的新部分！
小班1组通过与一些爬行动物的互动了解了密歇根多样的生态系统，画了风景画，并学习了中国书法基础。从滑溜溜的玉米蛇到在肯辛顿大都会公园游船上看到的两只秃鹰，夏令营的孩子们深深地感受到了大自然的魅力与人与自然的联系。夏令营的孩子们一直在积极地学习《小虎队》的歌曲《爱》，每天一句一句地练唱。该小组装饰了纸链，最终制作出一条纸龙——横跨整个教室那么长，还一起庆祝了两个小朋友的生日！
小班2组和大班组迅速融入了夏令营，快速得建立了长久的友谊。夏令营的孩子们都做了自我介绍，并彼此熟悉了起来。他们上了第一节绘画课和第一节中文课，夏令营的孩子们说这让他们想起了中文学校。大家还享用了亲手制作的各种饼干，包括巧克力豆饼干、鸟巢饼干和麻糬饼干。在周三的实地考察中，高年级组主要待在自然中心，专注于观察动物标本。大家都热切期待接下来几周的夏令营活动！
