Yesterday, May 7, the Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) proudly welcomed 11 seventh-grade students from University Liggett School to the ACA Chinese Community Center for a day of immersive cultural learning and hands-on experiences.
These students have just begun their journey of studying the Chinese language, and ACA was delighted to introduce them to important aspects of traditional Chinese arts and culture. During their visit, students participated in ACA’s Chinese Traditional Fan Dance program, where they learned about the elegance, coordination, and cultural significance of this traditional performance art.
The group also explored the art of Chinese calligraphy through an interactive workshop. Students learned how to write basic Chinese characters while discovering the history and evolution of different calligraphy scripts. They were introduced to traditional writing tools, including the brush, ink, paper, and ink stone, and practiced proper brush techniques and writing methods under guidance.
ACA is honored to support cultural education opportunities that inspire curiosity, cross-cultural understanding, and appreciation for Chinese heritage among young learners. We thank the students and educators from University Liggett School for visiting and look forward to welcoming them again in the future.
5月7日，美华协会（ACA）非常荣幸在华人社区中心接待了来自 University Liggett School 的11位七年级学生，开展了一次丰富而有意义的中华文化体验活动。
这些学生刚刚开始学习中文，此次参访也是他们中文学习旅程中的一次特别体验。活动期间，同学们参加了ACA的中国传统扇子舞课程，了解中国传统舞蹈的优雅与文化内涵，并亲身体验扇子舞的基本动作与配合。
随后，学生们参加了中国书法体验课程。在老师的指导下，同学们学习了中文基本汉字的书写，了解了不同书体的发展与特点，以及中国传统书写工具——毛笔、墨、纸、砚的使用方法。同时，大家还学习了基本的运笔技巧和书写方法，亲身感受中国书法艺术的魅力。
ACA一直致力于推广中华文化与跨文化交流。我们很高兴能够为年轻学生提供了解中华文化的机会，激发他们对中文学习和中华传统艺术的兴趣。感谢University Liggett School师生的到访，也期待未来再次欢迎他们来到ACA华人社区中心。
