This past weekend, the Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) Teen Volunteer Council (TVC) hosted its inaugural Leadership Workshop, titled “Speak Up!” The event took place on August 3rd and 4th at the Chinese Community Center and was led by Namita Prasad, an experienced confidence educator and founder of ConfidentLee. The workshop attracted a group of passionate students eager to enhance their public speaking skills and leadership abilities. Over the course of two days, participants engaged in hands-on activities designed to build their confidence and develop their ability to craft and deliver compelling speeches.
The workshop curriculum was thoughtfully structured to guide students through the essentials of effective communication. Participants were taught techniques for writing impactful speeches and practiced delivering them with poise and clarity. The supportive environment encouraged each student to step out of their comfort zone, fostering growth and self-assurance. The highlight of the workshop was the final presentation on August 4th, where students showcased the skills they had acquired by delivering speeches to their peers and instructors.
The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both participants and organizers, with many students expressing a desire for more workshops in the future. The success of this first-ever leadership workshop underscores the importance of providing young people with opportunities to develop their confidence and communication skills. The ACA TVC is excited to build on this momentum and looks forward to offering additional workshops to further empower the next generation of leaders.
