ACA 51st Anniversary Celebration Banquet

The Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) commemorated its 51st Anniversary with a vibrant gathering of 116 community members and supporters on the evening of Friday, November 10th, 2023, at the Oakland University Banquet Room from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. Themed “Sustainability Impact, Community Engagement,” the event underscored ACA’s unwavering dedication to fostering sustainability and community involvement within the Chinese American community.

The distinguished occasion featured Mr. Roy Xu, Managing Partner at Huron Investment Management, as the keynote speaker, sharing his inspiring journey in crafting Robin Hills Farm—an Eco-Destination guided by sustainability and community values. The celebration was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Michigan Senator Stephanie Chang, Michigan House Representatives Mike McFall, Sharon MacDonell, Ranjeev Puri, Madison Heights Mayor Roslyn Grafstein, and Detroit City Council Member Gabriela Santiago-Romero. Their inspiring remarks resonated with the audience. Adding to the significance of the event, Senator Gary Peters, unable to attend in person, was represented by his regional director Michael Schmit, who delivered insightful remarks on behalf of the Senator. Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist II extended warm wishes through a special video message, emphasizing the importance of the occasion. Additionally, Oakland County Executive David Coulter conveyed heartfelt greetings through a letter, further enriching the celebration.

The event’s success was amplified by the thoughtful contributions of Comerica Bank, the Center for Health Disparities Innovative Studies at East Michigan University, Comcast, and the Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission, all of whom generously sponsored the celebration, reinforcing ACA’s commitment to community engagement and sustainability.
